2015 Thompson Vineyard Mourvedre

Thompson Vineyard has a well-deserved reputation for outstanding Syrah and other Rhone varietals.  Half of the original vineyard was sold to Manfred Krankel of Sine Que Non fame, which is a strong vote of confidence. The vineyard is planted along the slopes of the Alisos Canyon in the Los Alamos Valley with cooling ocean influences.  While some of this wine went into our GSM blend, we felt it was tasting great on its own, so also did this single varietal bottling.

This wine was gently destemmed then cold soaked for 4 days and fermented with gentle punch-downs. We co-ferment a small amount of Viognier for added complexity.  Aged in all tight-grained neutral French oak barrels for 19 months.
