2017 Spear Vineyard Chardonnay

Spear vineyard has quickly become one the most highly regarded vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills appellation.  It is organically farmed and the vineyards are located on gentle slopes on the side of the hills in the middle of the AVA. The soils are very well drained, our clone 6 fruit was handpicked and gently pressed as whole clusters.  After settling in tank for 24 hours, the juice was racked to 60 gallon French oak barrels for fermentation.  The wine was 100% barrel fermented with 100% malo-lactic fermentation.  The wine then aged sur lie for 11 months in French oak barrels with 35% new barrels and was bottled unfiltered in August 2018.
